New Student Placement Testing
Take Course Placement Tests
New students will complete placement testing
in all three subjects: English, reading, and
math, in one session, allow two hours.
If you are new to college, taking your first college-level English, reading
or math class, or taking a class that requires English, reading or math
as a prerequisite, you must take placement tests before registering. The
Testing Center is located in the Student Center (SC) Building, Room 150,
480.423.6433.
Single Test Sessions
For continuing or transfer students who have
not earned college credit in English, reading,
or math may test in a subject area, allow
one hour.
TAKE PLACEMENT TESTS in English, math, and/or reading:
• Prepare before you test! Study guides and sample questions are online at
www.scottsdalecc.edu/testingcenter
• New students must take all three tests before registering for classes.
• Photo ID is required for all services in the Testing Center.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Students who are learning to read, write and
speak English as a second language should
consider taking the CELSA exam to evaluate
their English skills, allow one hour.
Get Advised
New college students must attend SOAR (Scottsdale Orientation, Advising
and Registration) to get advised and register. See dates and times on
this page. Transfer students should meet with an academic advisor in
the Academic and Career Advisement Center and must bring unofficial
transcripts of all college coursework completed. No appointment is needed
to see an advisor. The Academic and Career Advisement Center is located
in the Student Center (SC) Building, Room 130. Call 480.423.6539 or

Search for Classes
Go to the interactive list of classes in this eSchedule to review courses offered
each semester. Class information updates on a daily basis.
SEARCH ONLINE:
Go to my.maricopa.edu. Click on Find a Class. Enter the course subject
(prefix) and number (example: ENG 101) in the search field. Your search results
will include classes at all Maricopa colleges for the term now in session. You
may want to change the semester and/or limit your search to only SCC classes.
This will give you information on SCC classes offered for that semester. Choose
More Search Options to add additional details to your class search.

SUMMER MAXIMUM LOADS
Nine (9) semester hours (day or evening) is considered a maximum load
at any one time for a student enrolled in SCC's Summer Session.
