Dogs just don't get much cuter than Sophie. This 10month-old Maltese Pomeranian works with owner Jenefee
Bruce at élan Pebble Beach and despite her tender age, has
learned to be a very good shop dog. "Sophie is still kind of
shy," says store manager Brittani Bristol. "She hasn't found her
bark yet. She's a sweet, sweet girl." But, true to élan's offerings
of high-end designer women's wear and accessories, she has
found her fashion sense, taking naps in her leopard print bed
and sporting her pink collar with black-and-white polka dots.
In a town as dog friendly as
Carmel, of course there's a
canine at City Hall. Pooka has
worked in the planning department with Code Enforcement
Officer Margi Perotti for 12
years. No doubt she has had a
paw in making our town a
haven for hounds of all types.
"Pooka is part Border Collie
and part cookie," Perotti laughs,
referring to her 14-year-old's
favorite treat. In her youth,
Pooka spent many happy hours
chasing Frisbees at the beach;
these days she's content to lie
under Perotti's desk and snooze
between checking out visitors
to the department office.
