THROUGH THE LENS T E X T A N D P H OTO G R A P H Y B Y A A R O N C H A N G Angel Clouds he biggest reward of spending time in my galleries has been that of seeing and hearing firsthand how my artistic vision con- nects so immediately and so viscerally with viewers. Beyond listening to patrons' unique interpretations, witnessing their facial expressions and body language has been gratifying, as I've watched them transform before my eyes while a work envelops them with a sense of wonder or familiarity. One reaction I've spotted, specific to my abstract cloud shots, is a very particular visible sense of solace and peace that washes over a viewer and, in that moment, reawakens my own vivid memory of experiencing the natural beauty before it became the subject of the shot. Each time, I'm overcome with gratitude for the living and timeless nature of art, and for the gift of having this ongoing voiceless conversation with collectors and viewers from far and wide. As we brace ourselves, with patience and resignation, and head into our second year of coping with COVID-19 and its restrictions on travels to distant destinations, I hope that "Angel Clouds," shot at Carmel River State Beach, washes over you, evoking a sense of optimism, of serenity and sol- ace, and of gratitude and appreciation for the nature we have at hand, daily, right outside our windows.
