Another source of assistance to seniors are Professional Geriatric Care Managers. Organizations like the local Arizona Eldercare provide Geriatric Care Managers who are committed to maximizing the independence and autonomy of elders and t chronically ill while striving to ensure that the highest quality and most cost-effective health and human services are used where appropriate. The goal is the advancement of gentle and dignified care for the elderly and their families. Through education, advocacy, counseling and the delivery of concrete services, Arizona Eldercare provides assistance to help older persons and their families cope with the challenges of aging. Even though the entire Verde Valley has exceptional access to a variety of healthcare facilities and organizations, Sedona has extended its options to the community beyond the needs of the physical body. It has become known as a spiritual healing Mecca because of the power and energy that is said to come for the surrounding vortexes. There are a variety of ways to take in this healing power. Therapy on the Rocks offers myofascial release therapy to remove pain, soothe the mind and lift the spirits. Healing from the Heart gives the option to design customized spiritual experiences. Retreat and Heal has wellness retreats, a health spa and vortex tours. Sedona Soul Counseling provides soul purpose readings and soul activation. These are only a select few of the numerous healing encounters available all throughout the Sedona area. As a member of the Verde Valley community, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and remain an important part of the community lifestyle. The Verde Valley community takes pride in caring for of all of its residents; providing the peace of mind that you and your family are in good hands. discuss topics like art, history, philosophy, movies, literature and even computers. OLLI Expeditions and EDventures are other featured benefits and include trips all throughout beautiful locations of the Southwest and Mexico all year long. From kayaking, to cave exploration, to hiking the Grand Canyon—these trips bring a whole new meaning to "active" adult. OLLI also hosts many social events such as holiday parties and weekend theatre matinees on both campus locations. There are several other avenues for retired adults to get involved in the Verde Valley community. The Verde Valley Senior Center in Cottonwood provides a variety of ways for seniors to socialize, participate and engage with one another. The community center provides opportunities for karaoke, bingo, billiards, sing-a-longs, aerobics, crafts and live entertainment. For adults still interested in participating in the workforce, the Seniors in Action Business Alliance (SABA) has become a voice in Sedona charting the way to creating business environments that are senior friendly as a means for taking care of Sedona's mature workforce. Looking for a place to live? Sedona Shadows, a quaint manufactured home neighborhood, is one of a number of retirement communities all throughout the valley. It provides residents with opportunities for golf, water aerobics, hiking and billiards. There is also a great clubhouse as well as RV storage. A Tactical Survival Workbook Following the Loss of a Spouse, Life Partner or Loved One This workbook has been designed to help all who are faced with this overwhelming task of sorting through the pieces while at the same time grieving the loss of a spouse or other loved family member. The community of the Verde Valley understands many seniors may need further care and attention as life goes on. The Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition (VVCC) serves people who are homebound or handicapped to allow them to stay within their home environment as long as possible. The Sedona Community Center offers a "Meals on Wheels" program, taking food to personal residences so seniors can continue to maintain their usual home life routines. They also have a transportation "door to door" service for seniors who need a ride to the bank, to their doctor's appointment or to the grocery store.
