Please contact Hitachi's product engineering department for additional help in evaluating and solving chain problems. Problem Possible Cause Suggested Remedy Excessive Noise Misalignment. Excessive Slack. Chain and/or sprockets are worn out. Too few sprocket teeth. Inadequate Lubrication. Obstruction. Loose casing or shaft mounts. Align shafts and sprockets. Adjust chain tension. Replace chain and/or sprockets. Re-size chain drive. Lubricate properly. Remove obstruction. Tighten fasteners. Chain Clings to Sprocket Teeth Misalignment. Sprockets are worn out. Align shafts and sprockets. Replace sprockets. Chain Climbs the Sprocket Teeth Chains and/or sprockets are worn out. Excessive slack. Extreme overload. Replace chains and/or sprockets. Adjust chain tension. Eliminate cause of overload. Rust on Chains Exposure to moisture. Water in lubricant. Inadequate lubrication. Use corrosion resistant chain. Change lubricant.
