Since 2011, 13 College of Medicine faculty members have joined the previous 55 who have been honored in ceremonies that formally invest them in their endowed chairs and professorships. Andrew Tsung, assistant professor of neurosurgery in Peoria (second from left), has received The Patrick W. Elwood Professorship. The 13 newest investitures include two newly named professorships established at the College of Medicine in Peoria, in pediatric hematology oncology and simulation outcomes. In addition, in June 2013, the College of Medicine in Rockford made history by awarding its first endowed professorship, in rural and family medicine. "We couldn't be more grateful and excited," said former regional dean Martin Lipsky, MD. "Endowed professorships sustain our programs by providing a perpetual source of revenue. As our endowments grow, so does our strength and sustainability. We're very grateful to the generous donors who helped to make this a reality."
