I extend my gratitude to Gary Dunbar, director of the neuroscience program. This very prestigious award is the result of 30 years of excellent research and collaboration from our dedicated faculty, students and alumni. I also am excited to share some of the new endeavors taking place within the College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences. This fall, I had the honor to attend ribboncutting ceremonies for two new CHSBS facilities: an outdoor leadership training course for our military science department (see page 12) and the psychology department's Center for Children, Families and Communities. For more information, visit www.chsbs.cmich.edu/ccfc. In August, I traveled to the Netherlands and attended international events hosted by CMU philosophy professor Hope May to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Peace Palace, known as the seat of international law (see page 11). It was an honor to meet international dignitaries and see CMU students and faculty engaged in hosting and attending significant events about international courts and law. CHSBS is a diverse and active college. We host numerous guest speakers each year who provide exciting opportunities for our faculty, students, staff and the Mount Pleasant community. The research, teaching and outreach that our faculty, staff and students do exemplify the very best of what a Central Michigan University educational experience should be, and I welcome you to read more about some of those accomplishments and the many events that we've hosted in the past year.
