FEBRUARY 2014 RETAILOBSERVER.COM 51 A R C H I T E C T U R A L D I G E S T — S H O W P R E V I E W L ooking for the latest innovations in the industry? The 13th annual Architectural Digest Home Design Show (ADHDS) is gearing up to be the best show yet and promises to present inspiring new ideas in the home design and luxury market. The 2014 edition, produced by Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. (MMPI), hosted by Architectural Digest, and co-sponsored by The New York Times, will be held at Pier 94 (55th Street at Twelfth Avenue, New York City). It opens to trade on Thursday, March 20th and to the public from Friday, March 21-Sunday, March 23. With over 40,000 attendees expected, the entire show floor, including popular sections like reFRESH and MADE, will be buzzing with an impressive array of new and returning exhibitors. Visitors can expect to find innovative designs for indoors and out, including kitchen and bath products, carpet, stone and tile, lighting, furniture, accessories, art, and more. An equally rich seminar series complements the fresh crop of offerings. Taking place in the Jenn-Air Master Class Studio, it will feature industry influencers, top tastemakers and design-world luminaries, as well as special events that will stimulate all five senses. The reFRESH pavilion, a central place for kitchen, bath and building products manufacturers to reveal their latest advancements, will house more than 100 premier kitchen and bath brands. From appliances and cabinetry to fittings, fixtures and more, the show-within-the-show continues to grow and attract new exhibitors. The largest K&B event of its kind in the North East, it will include new products, culinary demonstrations and tastings by top chefs. Exhibitors including Jenn-Air and Sub-Zero / Wolf are returning to the show and will be introducing an array of exciting new looks and features. Miele will be focusing on the Brilliant White Plus Series and the Combi-Steam Oven. BSH Home Appliances, the third largest leading manufacturer of high-end appliances, is set to make a statement at the show with its top-notch offerings. Since the kitchen is one of the more popular places to gather in the home, range hoods are evolving and becoming a focal point. Expect to see innovative ideas and customizable designs at Prizer Hoods, RangeCraft, BlueStar Cooking and throughout the show. Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry is back for its fourth year in a row. The Pennsylvania-based brand is introducing a new line of cabinetry doors with stain finishes. First time exhibitor Rutt Handcrafted Cabinetry is debuting its Ruskin Series, designed exclusively for Rutt by renowned designer Scott A. Stultz. Inspired by the core ideas in the writings of the late John Ruskin, Ruskin defies conventional wisdom with its fresh take on traditional styling versus the current focus on contemporary styling. Also new to the show this year, Contemporary Pull will be launching four pulls including Square One, Round- Two, Eclipse and Nouveau. From products to programming, the Jenn-Air Master Class Studio will feature exclusive sessions by Architectural Digest and the New York Times. Architectural Digest kicks off the show with a full day of trade seminars and a keynote presentation by Editor in Chief Margaret Russell. This is followed by a three-day New York Times Designer Seminar Series, which takes place from March 21-23. Additional design ideas await at DIFFA's DINING BY DESIGN, which is co-located with the Architectural Digest Home Design Show and accessible with the same ticket. The charitable event features over 45 incredibly designed, over- the-top and inspiring table installations.
