Many scenes from the film, released in November, were shot in Big Sur. George Rodrigue , recognized for his iconic Blue Dog paintings, was the Carmel Art & Film Festival's featured artist and designed the 2013 festival poster. She also pitches for the Chicago Bandits in the National Pro Fastpitch league. Abbot's award, administered by the Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC), helps cover tuition, room, board, books and other expenses at an accredited college or university. Recipients currently receive $1,000; the goal is to increase awards to $5,000 by 2018, and to a full-ride scholarship as funding becomes available.
