The Susan Colby Maly Endowed Scholarship encourages
students to keep striving despite challenges.
Susan and Tim Maly began their love story on the CMU campus in the halls of
Saxe/Herrig. It continued through her extensive career as an educator holding
positions including elementary through high school-level teacher, an interim
principal, and student achievement and instructional coach. Susan, '73, and
Tim, '74, moved around the country as their careers grew until she lost her
battle with cancer this past year.
During her fight, Susan and Tim developed the Susan Colby Maly Endowed
Scholarship. It will support students enrolled in the Teacher Education Program
whose families are experiencing or have experienced financial hardships due
to treating cancer patients within their families.
The endowment will continue to uphold and advance Susan's legacy of
excellence and innovation in education.
