Between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013, Silk Road Ensemble touring and Silk Road Project work focused on the U.S. ARTS 18 performances in 14 U.S. cities for a total audience of more than 23,000 24 musicians representing 10 countries 8 new works developed from 4 commissioned composers 4 premieres of new music EDUCATION 385 students in 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades in two schools in New York City and Boston 34 hours of professional development for Silk Road Connect educators 22 unique artists in 10 visits to schools 11,415 total contact hours of hands-on learning with teachers 3,198 participants reached through 27 Silk Road Ensemble workshops on tour BUSINESS 70 teams in the Deans' Cultural Entrepreneurship Challenge 400 participants in Challenge events and workshops 30 experts from various fields and sectors serving as judges, mentors and presenters 4 winning teams received a total of $75,000 to fund new cultural enterprises NEW CHALLENGES Message from Laura Freid We are now engaged in an ongoing exploration… Year in Pictures "...a triumph of international cooperation" —NASHVILLE CONCERT REVIEW IN ARTSNASH YEAR IN REVIEW
