To continue inspiring audiences, and ourselves, the Silk Road Ensemble's repertoire evolves in response to new voices and new perspectives. Many musicians bring ideas for pieces or arrangements of traditional works. We also commission composers to create music for us. This year, three of our performers developed new works inspired by rivers—a topic we are continuing to explore with partners from many fields and disciplines. We were also delighted to record a new CD, A Playlist Without Borders, which was released with our first live concert DVD, Live From Tanglewood, in September 2013. Commissions & Other Works The Making of A Playlist Without Borders "Collaboration is my oxygen. I really do need it to survive. It's what I love the most. The communication, the trust, the communal goal, the support." —JOSEPH GRAMLEY, PERCUSSIONIST NEW MUSIC
