May / June 2014 15 Top to bottom: In attendance Bob Wayman, Dave Stadtmueller, Dan Margolin, Dick Seltzer, Tom Simmons and John Filus Bob Wayman's Pumpkin Dan Margolin The Pumpkin blowing flames Photos by Bob Wayman and David Stadtmueller you can take flat out but it takes a few laps to work up the courage. The esses are much harder than they look, being 5 or 6 right lefts that require you to be in the correct place all the way through. Mess up the first one and you will be out of shape through the whole section. Rising up out of the esses, there is a nasty off camber right that my car's 32 year old suspension technology just doesn't like very well, a short straight then a sharp left into the long back straight, long enough to explore whatever you are driving's (and your) top speed potential. Fast. Fast. Fast. Braking from terminal velocity is as exciting as anything and then a quick decreasing radius carousel into a very sharp acute angle turn leading into the "big carousel". The F1 cars went through here flat out upshifting all the way to 6th, geez no way the Pumpkin was ready for that!. Down another hill to turn 19 then up again to turn 20 and you enter the grandstand straight. Huge grandstands on one side, F1 garages and Boxes on the other with the F1 starting lights and position signs all in evidence. Look ma, I am Sebastian Vettel. Do you get the idea that we had a good time? This was definitely a bucket list check off item an experience that I am working as I write this to figure a way to do it again. 753 miles really isn't that far!!! - bob
