It is a great opportunity to meet some new friends, learn something new about your vehicle in a controlled, relaxed environment, and have a great story to tell your friends and family about when you are done. What is an autocross you ask? It is a small course set up in a large empty parking lot with cones outlining the "track." Each run is timed, with a typical session being 2 laps through the course. If you have never done one before, that is ok, because there are plenty of KCRPCA instructors on hand to teach you how to handle your car in this controlled environment at speed! The best part is, being an open parking lot, if you happen to go off course, the worse you can do is run over a cone! Once you complete your first run, you can get back in line and do it over and over again! Each time you will shave seconds off your time and really learn how to handle your car better. There are so many benefits to autocross I get excited just thinking about them all! No expensive racing suit to buy, even though we all know women look better in them than men. Heck, you don't even need to own a helmet as the group can provide one for you if you need it. Sadly, you have to leave your stellar 4 inch heels at home this time but I know there are some super cute athletic shoes out there and what a great reason to go shopping. Men need tires we need shoes, it is rubber all the same! Layers are your friend at this event. It can be chilly in the morning but can get really warm in your car by lunchtime. Leave your spandex at home, cotton t-shirts and long sleeve shirts rule this event. Spouses/ families are encouraged to attend and cheer on the ladies. I think there may have been some friendly wagers last year about who was going to put down the best time! Now that you have your awesome outfit picked out lets get down to the fun part. What should you expect when you arrive the morning of the event?
