The added bonus of starting
your day with instructors, is the
boost that comes from lightening
the weight of the car when you do
go solo. While I managed to pull a
full blown DNF on my 4th run for
missing a gate (ahem, twice) I still
walked away feeling immensely
successful, having taken my times
from an early 1:43 down to a 1:31.
A huge thanks goes also to
Aristocrat Motors, for the loan of a
2014 Carrera 991 S convertible for
the day, which many of the ladies
took advantage of. We wrapped
up with the "Carrera Challenge,"
allowing each driver one timed
run in the car. Having been out
in front all day, I was edged out
by a fellow driver by less than a
second on the very last run of the
day. That means the competitor in
me is more motivated than ever
to come back and do better next
time.
If you haven't done an
autocross before, your time has
come. Be sure to sign up for an
event this year. If you know a
lady (especially a young lady
with a brand new license) who
has never autocrossed, the kick-
off event for ladies in the Spring is
a can't-miss. Thank you to Rudy,
all the volunteers, the instructors,
Kendell Lopez, Ameristar, and
Aristocrat Motors!
