KCRPCA AUTOCROSS Bob Charlesworth Wipe That Smile Off Your Face AUTOCROSS That's what you would have heard if you had been there. Yep, Rudy Rodriquez and the team around him put on a fun, no wait, EXTREMELY fun, Autocross on June 8th. There were at least three (3) Father/Son duo's there. I shared my 993 with Kyle; another duo had a Red 1987 944 and yet another had father in a 996TT (I wouldn't let him drive it either) with his son in a Mini Cooper S (which looked like a hoot to drive). I'm terrible at people's names until I get around them a few times, so I apologize for not highlighting our enjoyable conversations. I did have some great discussions this time with Jim Cummings (our webmaster) about his Boxster that really sounds sweet and you could tell he was having a great morning. We even had a few BMW's enter (hey, who let them in?), yet they were fun to watch as you can see that they drive / handle very differently throughout the course. The track was fairly quick (quite a bit in 2nd gear), challenging and everybody had huge grins all morning long. I understand it was a slightly modified layout from the Ladies Auto-cross event held a few weeks back. I liked the variety of maybe having two different parking lots available. The west side for a shorter technical layout and now Lot D that really allows you to look further down the layout. I particularly enjoyed the increasing slalom challenge on the back side. This lot was also more secure from cars/people just wandering through as all the exits, save the two openings by the timing/scoring area, were already blocked. We had lots of folks watching this time as well, which is always exciting to promote the Club. Although, I'm not sure why some lady in a minivan thought she could join "camp creative" (or whatever the name was) in our area. I think Robert put Since King Richard Bennett wasn't in attendance, I think I took the most cones out at one time!
