July / August 2014 10 1. Where are you from and what brought you to KC? I'm originally from the Baltimore area, but roamed the world for 20+ years with the Army. My wife is a small- town girl and hated the East Coast where I retired from, so when an opportunity arose out here, I jumped at it. 2. How long have you been married, kids or pets? 33 years. Kids, one of each, a son and daughter and one grandchild from each. One is in Fulton, MO and the other in SW Oklahoma, so this is a pretty good place to be, geographically. We currently are back up to two greyhounds (racing rescues), although my wife wants to go back to bulldogs eventually. 3. What is your background or profession? Right now I'm into Operations and Project Management, although I have a good bit of geeky background behind that -- statistics and simulations. 4. When did you join PCA? I'm guessing 6 years. 5. What kind of Porsche do you have? I started off with a '76 914 in college. My wife still says that she married me for my car. I'm currently driving a 2001 S model Boxster that we're both in love with. 6. What is your favorite thing about your car? The handling is to die for. I know it's not the fastest thing around, but, then, neither am I. We're pretty much made for each other. Of course, some of my friends will say that my favorite thing is the color (Meridian Silver) because it doesn't show dirt . . . . 7. What have you done to personalize it? I put a Fabspeed exhaust on it from the block back and the air induction. Beautiful sound as well as extra horses and torques. 8. Favorite memory with car - or funny story? For the longest time, my Facebook photo was a shot of my dash showing me turning 100,000 miles at one o'clock doing 100 miles per hour. 9. Cars growing up that you had fun with? I spent my High School years in a 1968 Chevelle station wagon. Need I say more? 10. What was your nickname in high school? Jim. Yeah, I'm that boring . . . . 11. What would you like your next Porsche to be? Really looking for another 914. 12. If you won the lottery what would be the top 3 cars you would own? A nice 6-cylinder 914, a '69 GTO convertible, and my GMC Sonoma, but with a turbo charged small block V8 in lieu of it's current 4-banger.) - Jim MEET A CLUb MEMbER By Jim Cummings A Dozen Questions for a Board Member: JIM CUMMINGS
