2010 outlook OUTSIDE HITTER/ RIGHT SIDE HITTER Altrese Hawkins (So., OH, 5-10) Katlin Inglish (Sr., OH, 6-0) Vesna Jelic (So., OH, 5-11) Marija Jovanovic (So., OH, 6-2) Maja Kostic (So., OH, 5-10) KATLIN INGLISH The strength of this year’s club will come from the outside hitter position. Sophomores Altrese Hawkins and Marija Jovanovic return aſter leading the Tiger’s offense a year ago. ALTRESE HAWKINS Hawkins, a 2009 C-USA All-Freshman selection, downed a team-best 335 kills and led the way with a .282 attack percentage. Aſter sitting out the first 15 matches of the year, Jovanovic provided the team with a much-needed second option. She connected for 165 kills and led the club with 3.30 kills per set. VESNA JELIC MAJA KOSTIC MARIJA JOVANOVIC 2010 MEMPHIS VOLLEYBALL EXPERIENCE 40 Memphis will get an offensive boost from four-year transfers Vesna Jelic and Maja Kostic. Jelic, a transfer from New Orleans, will challenge immediately for a starting role on the outside. The Belgrade, Serbia native was solid on both sides of the net for the Privateers in 2009, logging four double-doubles. She slammed 184 kills and hit .293, while making 221 digs and 17 total blocks. Kostic, who transfers to Memphis aſter two seasons at Kennesaw State, led KSU in kills per set, through 26 sets, before suffering a season-ending injury in 2008. She bounced back to record 37 digs and 16 kills in limited action in 2009.
