top teams 1990 With Metro Conference Coach of the Year Mike Lingenfelter at the helm, the 1990 Memphs volleyball recorded a 30-9 finish. The Tigers, armed with All-Metro performers Clare Dirksen, Rhonda Kottke and Katherin Lehman, put together win streaks of 15matches and eight matches on their way to a Metro Conference Championship appearance. The Tigers advanced to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. 1994 Under the direction of head coach Penny Lucas-White, the 1994 Tiger volleyball team claimed the Great Midwest Conference Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament—the program’s first and only appearance in postseason play. The Tigers swept DePaul to win the GMC championship and finished the season 27-8. 2006 Behind the strength of First Team All-C-USA selections Shelby Burton and Laura Côté and outside hitter Ashley Liford, the 2006 Tiger volleyball squad posted a stiff 27-8 mark and advanced to the 2006 C-USA Tournament title match for the second time in three seasons. 2003 Led by Memphis’ all-time winningest head coach Carrie Yerty, the 2003 Memphis volleyball squad put together the program’s best season to-date. The ’03 Tigers went 30-6 and posted a program-record .833 winning percentage. Memphis won 17 of its first 18 matches, including recording nine sweeps in a 14-match win streak.
