Jim Dennison, Akron's winningest football coach, was honored
during the Zips' home game against rival Kent State on Nov. 2. More than
200 former student-athletes and assistant coaches took part in a day's
worth of events to honor Dennison.
From 1973 through 1985, Jim Dennison
led the Zips to an 80-62-2 mark, the most
wins in school history. Dennison was also
instrumental in overseeing Akron's climb from the
college division ranks to Division II football in 1974
and eventually the Division I-AA (FCS) level in 1980.
