RETAILOBSERVER.COM AUGUST 2014 18 burner that is operating consistently at its maximum efficiency. Since the burner is located in the oven cavity, it heats the air used for cooking directly eliminating any lag in response time. This means the PowR Oven™ can reduce pre-heating time adding to the convenience of the range, a key selling point. In addition, overall cooking time can be reduced. Used in conjunction with the convection fan located at the center of the PowR Oven™, both time and temperature can be reduced while cooking. The convection fan automatically turns on in a low speed anytime the burner is on. However, there is a user selectable high speed that will allow the fan to operate when the burner is not on. This high speed fan is controlled by a switch located on the front control panel and comes standard with all Platinum™ units. This helps keep the burner cool and also distributes air evenly throughout the cavity, while providing all the benefits of a convection oven, if desired. In addition to speeding up cooking time, the PowR Oven™ uses up to 30 percent less gas than a traditional atmospheric range, which leads to a savings in gas bills – another selling feature. This is accomplished primarily by heating the air used for cooking, verses the overall cavity. The power burner cycles to maintain the desired air temperature for a constant and even heat. The power burner flame will automatically ignite and extinguish during this process. The blue indicator light, located on the front control panel, will turn on every time the power burner is on as the oven cycles to maintain the set temperature. "This oven performs similar to an electric oven, but with all the benefits of gas cooking, which is one of the main differences between how this works and how an atmospheric burner oven works," Stephens said. Additionally, BlueStar ® continues its leadership in performance and design with exciting upgrades and new options, to its Platinum ® Series. New PrimaNova ® 25,000BTU burners provide maximum high, consistent heat. Plus, the Platinum™ Series features a commercial-grade cast iron interchangeable griddle/ charbroiler system for two-zone cooking, creating the ultimate in flexibility and power. Although the atmospheric burner is the primary heat source for most residential gas ovens, BlueStar ® is looking to shake up the market with this new introduction. "I would like to see this takeover and be used as a primary burner," Stephens says of the PowR Oven™ technology. "It is something new and different, with a lot of great performance benefits that people will love. We believe this is the wave of the future, and BlueStar is at the forefront," said Stephens.
