PARKER DUNCAN, LEADING SCORER FOR THE LAST TWO SEASONS, SPEARHEADS THE TIGERS ATTACK. Following an up-and-down 2009 season, Memphis men’s soccer head coach Richie Grant will lead a young, yet talented, group into battle in 2010. With only two seniors and a whopping 20 players who are in their first or second year in the program, Grant has gone with a youth movement in an effort to overtake three-time defending champion Tulsa and bring Memphis back to the conference championship game for the first time since the 2004 Tigers won the conference title. The Tigers hit the ground running to open the season, playing in two tournaments (the UAB “Soccer for a Cure” Classic and the SIU-Edwardsville Tournament) in September. The good news is that the Tigers won’t travel away from Mike Rose Soccer Complex for a match other than those tournaments before its Oct. 9 trip to UCF. That isn’t to say the Tigers will have an easy path through the regular season. Memphis will face Charlotte in the “Soccer for a Cure” Classic and hosts Tulsa before traveling to Kentucky and Missouri State later in the season; each of those squads were ranked in the top-25 at some point last season. 2010 Memphis Men’s Soccer Experience 13 2010 SEASON OUTLOOK
