MEMPHIS NATIVE JJ GREER WILL PROVIDE SPARK FOR THE TIGERS IN 2010. Returning to lead Memphis up front will be sophomore J.J. Greer and junior Parker Duncan. The pair accounted for 18 Tiger points last season. Greer, a product of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, started off strong with one goal and five assists in the opening month of his collegiate career and was ranked in the top 10 nationally for assists per game. The C-USA All-Freshman honoree is a creative passer who helps create for his frontline mates. In two years with the Memphis program, Duncan has accounted for 10 goals and four assists. Even though he might be used some as an outside midfielder, the Johnson City, Tenn., native will still look to influence teams with his relentless pressure of opposing defenders. Look for redshirt freshman Mark Sherrod to have an instant impact at forward. The ESPN Rise All-American out of Knoxville, Tenn., will add his 6-3 frame to the lineup in 2010 after missing his freshman season due to injury. The Tigers will also rely on Martin Methodist transfer Tiago Reichert and Tulsa, Okla., native Austin Gross at the position. Both players will join with Sherrod to add height to the Memphis attack. Reichert, a 6-1 player from Francisco Beltrao, Brazil, helped Martin Methodist advance to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship with seven goals and three assists in 2009. Gross, known as “Stretch” by his teammates, is another six-footer who will help add to the attack. Newcomer Gordy Gurson will also provide depth at forward. 2010 Memphis Men’s Soccer Experience 15 FORWARDS
