coach in training tigers in the nfl Th e Pittsburgh Steelers’ Mike Tomlin became the youngest head coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009 against the Arizona Cardinals. But before he went on to NFL fame, Tomlin began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Memphis in 1996 where he worked with the defensive backs and special teams. Tomlin became the 16th Steelers head coach in 2007. One year later, he was named the 2008 Motorola NFL Coach of the Year. In three seasons with the Steelers, Tomlin is 31-17 (.646).
