Chicago students gary edwards and Jacqueline Brom, both Md '14, who are getting married this summer, matched respectively to the COM in orthopaedic surgery, and to advocate Lutheran gen- eral Hospital in Park ridge, Ill., for family medicine. Brom's interest in medicine grew during her childhood when her father became very ill and later died, when she was 19, of a heart attack. "I realized how it could have been prevented. family medicine has a huge prevention focus," she said. tamara O'neal's match to the Col- lege of Medicine's emergency medicine residency program brought a steady, joy- ful flow of tears. the LaPorte, Ind., native said she likes the unpredictable nature of emergency medicine. "you never know what's going to happen," she said. "you get to impact so many people from so many walks of life. you get to save lives." added O'neal, Md '14, "I'm so overwhelmed by so many emotions.
