Cory Gaylord used his first season at the U of M as a redshirt year. He was a four-year team captain for coaches Kevin Gaylord and Steve Bell at Houston High School. A four-time all-region selection and a two-time state champion during his prep career, Gaylord shot a career-low 71-67 at the 2007 Tennessee State Championship. He was a multi- sport athlete at Houston High, where he also earned two letters on the soccer team. Gaylord led the Mustangs to a 2008 soccer state runner-up title.
