Hon. Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr. President and CEO Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Kenneth Bentsen is President and CEO of SIFMA, having previ- ously served in other areas of the associa on, and is also the CEO of the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA), SIFMA's global affiliate. Prior to joining SIFMA, Bentsen was president of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Associa on (ELFA). From 2003 to 2006, Bentsen was a managing director at Public Strategies, Inc. From 1995 to 2003, Bentsen served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas, where he sat on the Financial Services Commi ee (and its pre- decessor Banking and Financial Services Commi ee), and sepa- rately on the Budget Commi ee. Prior to his service in Congress, Bentsen was an investment banker at both a major Wall Street firm and a large regional firm. Bentsen is a Trustee of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden of the Smithsonian Ins tu on, the Bryce Harlow Founda on, and the Center for Congressional and Poli cal Studies at the American University. He has a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas and an M.P.A. from American University. Nicholas E. Calio President and CEO Airlines for America Nicholas E. Calio is president and chief execu ve officer of Air- lines for America (A4A), the trade associa on which advocates for the country's airlines; its members and affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traf- fic. Prior to joining A4A in January 2011, Calio was Ci group's execu ve vice president for Global Government Affairs and a member of its senior leadership commi ee. Before joining Ci group, he ser ved as assistant to the President for leg- islative af fairs for Presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush. In 1993, C ali o c o -founded O'Brien*Calio, a law and lobbying firm rated by a Fortune Magazine survey as "one of the ten most powerful" in Washington. Calio is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Ohio Wes- leyan University and the Board of Directors of RTCA, Inc. and the Wolf Trap Founda on. Hon. John B. Larson Member U.S. House of Representatives Rep. John B. Larson began serving in the U.S. House of Repre- senta ves in 1999 and is presently in his eighth term represent- ing Connec cut's First Congressional District. Before entering Congress, Larson was a high school history teacher and athle c coach un l he became an owner of Larson & Lysik insurance company. He served on the East Har ord Board of Educa on and the East Har ord Town Council. In 1982, he was elected to the Connecticut State Senate, beginning a 12-year tenure. Larson is a senior leader in the House Democra c Caucus and was named chairman of the Task Force on Elec on Reform. In 2005, Larson was named to the Ways and Means Commi ee. In 2013, he was named co-chairman of the Congressional Joint Strike Fighter Caucus, a bipar san group. Larson formerly served on the Armed Services Commi ee, Science Commi ee, and as Ranking Member of the House Administra on Commi ee. Larson and his wife Leslie have three children. William G. Sutton, CAE President and CEO Equipment Leasing and Finance Association William G. Su on serves as President and CEO of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Associa on (ELFA), the premier trade as- socia on represen ng more than 580 member organiza ons in the $827 billion equipment finance sector. Previously, Su on served as assistant secretary of manufacturing and services, a unit of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Interna onal Trade Administra on. Earlier, he served more than five years as presi- dent of the Air Condi oning and Refrigera on Ins tute. He is a former U.S. Navy Rear Admiral with 30 years' military service as a surface warfare officer. Su on is also an ac ve member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Commi ee of 100 and the Execu- ve Board of the Na onal Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He holds an M.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Massachuse s Ins tute of Technology and a B.S. in Naval Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and is a Cer fied Associa on Execu ve (CAE). Connie Tipton President and CEO International Dairy Foods Association In 2004, Connie Tipton was appointed President and CEO of the Interna onal Dairy Foods Associa on (IDFA), represen ng the na on's dairy manufacturing and marke ng industries and their suppliers. She has been a senior execu ve of IDFA for over 30 years. She is also a board member of the Na onal Associa on of Manufacturers' Council of Manufacturing Associa ons, the Sewell-Belmont Museum and House, BIPAC, the Bryce Harlow Founda on, and the Capitol Hill Day School. Tipton was selected by Capitol Hill publica ons as one of the top trade associa on lobbyists in 2002. She was honored by Associa on Trends maga- zine as 2009 Associa on Execu ve of the Year and was selected as Business-Government Rela ons honoree at the Bryce Harlow Founda on dinner 2014. USCHS Welcomes Newest Board Members 10 USCHS Staff Updates The U.S. Capitol Historical Society wel- comed several new staff members in 2014. Samantha Wolfe joined us as Development Coordinator when Sarah Lewis moved to a new company, and Victoria Wolfe replaced Allie Swislocki as Development Associate . Samantha works on membership issues and coordinates tours, while Victoria works more closely with corporate members. And because everyone asks: no, they aren't related! In the Merchandise Department, Samantha Neveleff has moved up to Assistant Buyer handling calendar orders, and former recep onist Ann McNeil is back for a tem- porary s nt taking orders and seeing us through the holiday rush with assistance from Sharron Randolf.
