November / December 2014 21 I check my watch. I'm late. It is now a race to break- fast. Rolling out of the park- ing lot I can see the cashier stand a little taller to watch me leave. I think everyone is a car guy at heart. I head down the back streets enjoying the sound of a tuned exhaust. The rolling hills open on to my last stop light before the highway. A wink from the traffic light and I'm rushing up thorough the gears. This never gets tir- ing. Never. The sun is a few inches above the horizon. My radio is off, as I usually prefer to listen to the singing of my flat six. Is it possible for Evo- lution Motorsports to create the perfect tenor note for a flat six, while Fabspeed cre- ates the perfect baritone for a turbo four? There are many things to ponder while judg- ing an apex, gracefully accel- erating, and surging through a completely new kind of scenery. At the half way mark my scenery usually improves. On any given breakfast- morning I can be joined by several other flavors of Ger- man engineering. The usual culprits are a red head 944 cab, stately polar silver 993, dark ocean blue Boxster, and the sky blue turbo 997. All are confirmation that I am not the only one smitten by the curvaceous lines penned by Stuttgart. Arriving at our destina- tion our race is done. Our parade lap is more of a pa- rade park, as we line our cars up. One by one we step out, smiling at each other, almost a congratulations, as we shake hands. We stand back and look at the beauty and personality of each gen- eration of Porsche laid out in front of us. There is an early '70s robin egg blue 911 next to a new gun metal GT3RS. They could not be more dif- ferent yet be so the same. The dichotomy is repeated when I see an early Boxster flanked by a Spyder on one side and a Cayman on the other. It is a family reunion where the personality of each family member is so different, but when together it makes us family. A big family at that this morning with close to 25 cars arriving. And all of us hungry for breakfast. - STAN Photos by Stan Thorne
