t age 11, Deb Lent watched a Miss America pageant and decided to follow one contestant's
career path into singing and interior design. Lent let go of those musical dreams by adulthood
(though her husband, Mike, is a guitarist for Barry Manilow), but she did find success with interior design.
Today, Lent works on residential and commercial projects, offers redesign and staging ser vices, and is
a kitchen showroom consultant for Cypress Cabinets in Sand City. After pressing pause to run a skincare
salon for a few years, she returned to design with what she calls "a whole new love and appreciation"
for the field.
When Lent is not working, she stays busy with her 11- year-old son, who was diagnosed with autism at age two.
"I'm involved in learning about it, understanding it and being the best mother I can be to a child with special
needs," she says.
