Dr. Gregory W. Housner's gift to CMU also helps his parents.
Dr. Gregory W. Housner was looking for a way to support Central Michigan
University and repay his parents for their generosity throughout his
educational experience. He discovered establishing a charitable gift
annuity with the university.
Housner, who now is in practice with Dearborn Orthopedics & Sports,
designated his gift to CMU Athletics. In return, his parents receive a quarterly
check directly from CMU.
"The gift has a dual purpose: it fulfilled my need to give, but also the annuity
gives back to my parents," Housner says. "They paid the institution while I
attended, now the institution pays them."
Housner's parents paid his tuition while he attended CMU to pursue his career
as an orthopedic surgeon. This enabled him to focus on his education as well
as play baseball and football.
