January / February 2015 8 EDITOR'S COLUMN By Stan Thorne It Is Not A NEWSLETTER Year One Under My Belt. It has officially been one year as your editor. I hope you have enjoyed the direction I have taken our magazine. We are getting some recognition amongst other editors nationally, and I intend to enter us into the national "newsletter" competition. I don't like to think of our body of work as a newsletter. We have consistently been 35 to 40 pages woth of content. Our stories and articles have been re-published with other regions. Some editors work is even seen nationally. I've woven in video and slideshows to enhance the readers' experience. Our photgraphers have a great eye for perspective, be that of our gathering or captturintg the lines of a Porsche at sunset. I'm lucky to work with two of the best proof readers I've ever met, while I get to take all their award winning content and make it look good on a page. It is a labor of love. Thank you to all the people who help make this publication, your magazine. Logo Update It has come to the boards's attention that the KCRPCA does not have a current logo. There was an old one with wheat and a donkey on it. I have not seen that one. I have seen, and like, our 50th Anniversary logo / icon. But that one was designed to celebrate an event. Short story, we need a logo. Here are the four finalists. #1 The States Shield This logo quickly identifies our region by highlighting Kansas and Missouri with a star to focus on Kansas City. #2 Downtown KC Shield This logo highlights two iconic buildings in Kansas City, the Kauffman Center and Liberty Memorial. #3 The States Circle Kansas and Missouri are on focus again, but this logo has influences from our national PCA logo. #4 The States Shield Racing influences the look and feel of this logo while still showing where we are.
