January / February 2015 10 1. Where are you from and what brought you to KC? I pretty much grew up in Kansas City. My career took me to New Jersey for a short while, but, have lived in rural Clay County just outside of Liberty for the last 14 years. 2. How long have you been married, kids or pets? Dee and I will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year, we have two boys, one daughter in law and a three year old Grandson! He loves Papa's Porsche and racing. 3. What is your background or profession? I am in IT Management with a varied background in the industry from sell-side to buy-side of the business. I spent 4 years in consulting in the Northeast before joining UMB Bank in 2000 where I've been for the last 14 years. Currently I am responsible for all transaction processing software at UMB as well as our Fund Servicing software development in Milwaukee and Ogden Utah. 4. When did you join PCA? I only recently joined the PCA as an official member of the club. However, I've been a "track-rat" for over 10 years and instructed for the club at HPDE's for most of that time. I was president of another brand club for a number of years and only recently made the jump into a Race Prepared 944 last year purchased from our friends at RennsportKC. 5. What kind of Porsche do you have? 1983 944 (Sunoco #6) 6. What is your favorite thing about your car? It's just fun to drive! While this car certainly is no horsepower king, it forces the driving to better skills by managing all aspects of weight and balance to get the most out of it. Driving several other German brands, late model or old 7. What have you done to personalize it? Car came exactly as I like it, Wes at RennsportKC had the Sunoco livery from the early 917's. Having passion for both Porsche and Audi it was perfect. I did however install a lap timer. 8. Cars growing up that you had fun with? One story that every track junkie has heard is about my rear tire passing me at MAM when I lost the rear left tire. Let's just say it's very embarrassing when you forget to check the torque on the lug bolts or nuts. I've instructed for years and it's a basic expectation to check torque before every session (we all should remember this). However, on this particular morning I was distracted and blew off that basic step. About two laps into the session exiting turn 5 I felt an ODD vibration, by the time I was into turn 6-7 the vibration was a wobble and the rear left popped off the car! I slowed and watched the tire bounce and roll it's way down the center of the track while cars swerved to avoid it. Moral of the story: check the wheel torque every time before going on track. 10. What would you like your next Porsche to be? I'm debating my next car and hope to be making an acquisition sometime in 2015. While I love the new cars, I've settled on a 993 C2S (wish I had it bought a 3 years ago). - KRIS MEET A bOARD MEMbER By Kris Loveless A Dozen Or-So Questions for a Board Member: Kris Loveless
