January / February 2015 6 Greetings everyone, my name is Tim Bubniak. As of 2015 I am the new President of the Kansas City Region. I am very excited to take on this role especially with the outstanding board members that will be serving this year. To introduce our new board, Stan Thorne is Vice President, Richard Seltzer is Treasurer, Jerry Clark is Secretary; the directors are Ann Stover Wyatt, Spencer Cochran, Kris Loveless. Director and Chair for Driving Activities is Christopher Fourie, Membership Chair is Agelon T. Jones and Holly Juckette our Chair of Social Activities. For my first article I want to talk about Car guys! That is a term that does not have a gender attached to it. Car guys are people who have a special interest in cars and all things automotive. They may love their car, but they are always looking around at other car types to see what else is out there and how it stacks up to their car. Most car guys are familiar with the Porsche brand but only from a distance, and don't fully understand what a Porsche is about. Then at some point they have a friend or relative or any of a thousand scenarios that has them in a position to have the opportunity to drive their first Porsche. Once that first drive takes place everything changes and it is as if a new discovery has taken place and the car guy's world will never be the same! So what do we want to do as a Club? For my choice as your newly minted club President, I want this club to find more reasons to drive our cars and enjoy them as much as possible. I intend to work with our new board to have more spirited or fun drives with destinations at great places to eat and mingle. I would like to see our many autocross events over the coming year increase our overall participation and get more of us in our cars enjoying them. If you come out once you will be hooked. I would like to continue our current show and shine events and see if we can create new events to show our cars and maybe raise money for charity through that event. I also very much want to see this Club get back to racing on a home track. With the troubles that have developed for Heartland Park we have been put in an awkward position relative to racing, but there are some very positive signs on that front and I assure everyone that the 2015 board will aggressively pursue all options to help this happen as soon as circumstances allow. Last but not least we need to continue our social events and look for new ones or renew past events that promise to get us in our cars and enjoy them as much as possible. We all know that the club is about the cars but it is even more about the people. We have so many great people in the club and I encourage everyone to come out to any events and meet more of the club members. I encourage anyone with an idea for events or venues that they think might be of interest, please share them with the board for consideration. I especially want to thank Bob Wayman for his leadership over the last two years as President and to the entire board from this past year. 2015 is going to be a great year to be in the Porsche club in Kansas City. Best Regards, - Tim PRESIDENT'S COLUMN By Tim Bubniak That's the Way I Feel HOW ABOUT YOU? I want this club to find more reasons to drive our cars and enjoy them as much as possible.
