Webber crash hard with just
30 minutes left. That hard
crash proved Porsche's safety
design closed monocoque.
This is enclosed with side
panels made of similar
material used in bullet proof
vests to prevent control
arms or other parts of the
mechanics of the car injuring
the driver.
The 919 on display had it's
cockpit blacked out. I guess
Porsche doesn't want the
competition to see in. All this
Porsche performance, safety
and technology and it weighs
just 1900 lbs. Another
interesting thing to me was
that the 919 uses hydraulic
steering and 18" wheels with
tires that are 310/70/18. All
in all Porsche had quite a
good showing at the 2015
Detroit Auto Show. .
