March / April 2015 23 polishes have done. Waxes protect and seal in all that high gloss appearance that you have worked so hard to get. To sum it all up - these three products work together to give you the best finish. Polishes, glazes, and waxes are really inseparable and are all needed to give your car that concours-worthy finish! Now that you know how glaze is different from wax we need to move on to how to use them. Let's start by selecting a glaze, I highly recommend using Meguiars Mirror Glaze #7 Show Car Glaze. If this is your first experience with #7 Show Car Glaze, prepare to be wow'd! It can give you a high-definition gloss finish and the depth of shine is nothing short of stunning! Lets get started with the glaze: 1. Glaze goes on like wax but unlike wax you never want the glaze to dry. When the glaze get dry it is all but impossible to buff off, so work on small areas (2ft x 2ft) one at a time. 2. The car needs to be in a shaded area. I like to start with the hood first. 3. Use a clean applicator putting the glaze directly on it not on the car's paint (this will help you control the amount of glaze you use getting it more evenly onto the finish) 4. Rub the glaze on the car in the 2ft by 2ft area, work it onto the finish until it is completely covered 5. No need to wait for glaze to set you can start buffing right away 6. Use two towels, one to take off the heavy glaze and a clean one to finish buffing paint until you have it to the desired look Hint: If glaze dries or becomes hard to buff off spray it with water or re- glaze to remove 7. Continue this process overlapping each area a little so that they blend together 8. After the hood in done go back over it with water and gently buff off any extra glaze build-up until paint is streak free (either use a damp microfiber towel or a spray bottle with distilled water) 9. Continue this process until the whole car is done 10. Look over the car and make sure you have your desired look and there are no dull spots in the finish Photos by Spencer Cochran G laze also enhances the depth of the paint, giving your car that wet mirror like finish that seems to have no bottom.
