Gross is an integral part to the Memphis attack because of his energy, toughness and ability to get his head on crosses. In 10 games of action he tallied one goal, an equalizer against UIC that gave Memphis a draw. In his freshman season, Gross made six starts for the Tigers at midfield and forward, including a start in the season opener against Belmont. When Gross tallied a goal in the game, he joined teammate Liam Collins as the first newcomers to score in their Tiger debuts since Jamie Gilbert and Kevin Walsh in 2006. Gross played varsity soccer for Jenks High School for coach John Timmons. He served as a peer tutor for the Special Olympics while in high school.
