Sophomore forward Mark Sherrod had the best single-season performance by a Tiger in the history of the program. In Mem- phis' 3-2 win over No. 9 UCF on October 29, Sherrod scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, giving him 19 goals on the season and breaking Sean Frasor's record 18 goals in 2001. An assist on Lewis Ellis' 2nd minute goal at SMU in the following game tied Frasor's mark for points in a season, 42.
Sherrod was named Conference USA Player of the Year, the first Tiger to earn the honor, Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference. On two separate occasions he was named C-USA Player of the Week, while also being named NSCAA National Player of the Week, Soccer America Player of the Week, CS360 Primetime Performer and SoccerSavings.com/Soccer News Net National Player of the Week. Furthermore, the Knox- ville, Tenn., native earned CoSIDA Academic All-District and C-USA All-Academic Honors.
