Circuit of the Americas,
Austin, Texas is the only
Formula One venue in
the United States. Who
would not want to jump
at a chance to drive the
same track as Louis,
Sebastian, Nico and Kimi?
For the second year in a row, a number of
KCRPCA members did exactly that after
being invited by the BMW Club of Texas to
participate in their signature event at COTA in
March. Dave Stadmueller, Dick Seltzer, Karl
Wilen, Mike Armentrout, Ron Nolan, Tom
Simmons and yours truly braved the 750-
mile trek and intense Texas traffic to arrive
at the track on a Thursday night, with Karl,
Dave and Mike setting a new KC to Austin
speed record (details are confidential!).
The COTA team welcomed everyone to
the track with typical Texas hospitality. This
is a very professionally run place as you can
well imagine. The facilities are second to
none including a full service cafeteria and
a Taco truck for lunch. There were several
hundred cars at the event but the Texas
BMW team was prepared and organized
as only BMW folks can be. Despite the
