July / August 2015 39 Photos by David Stadtmueller and Bob Wayman Road America is one of only a handful of road circuits in the world maintaining its original configuration being 4.048 miles in length and 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph may be reached. One of the best-known features of this course is a turn on the backside known as "the kink." It is legend that every color of Porsche paint has left a streak on the wall at "the kink". Note to self …. Don't lift at "the kink", stay on the gas, 4th gear 115mph … whew, made it. This years event Monday-Tuesday June 15th- 16th was another one full of great memories. There were no less than 12 cars from the Kansas City Region, and another 4 of our close friends from South Dakota amongst the 80 in attendance. Some were veterans of Road America lore, and a few were first-timers. I think I can speak for all when I say … the track didn't disappoint, and all left with a smile at the end of the day. Of course, a trip to Elkhart Lake isn't complete without a wonderful dinner at the Paddock Club to tell some stories and enjoy some laughs. Thanks again to Al Hess for making the arrangements. Until next year …. Thanks for the memories! Hope to see you there. - DAVID " My friend Al knowing how much my recent turbo problems hurt bought me a snail turbo shirt. Isn't it nice to have friends that sympathize with you!!" - BOB I think we need to have a photo caption contest, because I'm speech- less. - EDITOR
