here is no small measure of self-regard in Pablo Picasso's famous observation that, "Good artists copy, great
artists steal."
For photographers in particular, the creative barrier between imitation and inspiration can be an especially challenging
one, which is why the Center for Photographic Art is hoping to help area artists release their "inner Picassos" with its
second series of creative workshops scheduled for the first weekend in November.
The PIE (Photography + Ideas + Experience) Labs offers an innovative, multi-disciplinary instructional experience that
allows photographers to develop a more expressive approach to photography by tapping into the wellspring of their
personal creativity.
"The basic premise of the PIE Labs is that artistic development is equal to personal development," explains Jerry
Takigawa, who currently serves as the CPA board president and co-founded the workshop last year with CPA Board
Trustee David Bayles, who serves as facilitator for the PIE Labs.
