B eing treated like a star even before exiting your vehicle can make a visit to celebrity-studded Beverly Hills even brighter. At the Montage Beverly Hills, warm smiles greet you as you pull up in front of the elegant hotel, constructed just under seven years ago. A hand is extended to the ladies to help them out of their car, gentlemen are assisted with their coats, and staff smoothly escorts you to the front desk, where an attendant personally takes you to your room. "We want you to feel like we were expecting you," says General Manager Todd Orlich. "That we know who you are, and we want you in your room as quickly as possible." A split of champagne awaits, along with a friendly tour of the luxurious guest room, one of 201 on property, which includes 500-thread-count bed- ding, drapes that open and close at a push of a button, soft towels and bathrobes, deep soaking tubs with televisions (complete with waterproof remotes), and many more thoughtful amenities. The standout quality of the hotel is the friendly and gracious service: "We want our guests to feel that they can ask for anything and our staff will get it for them," Orlich says. This includes a front desk staff who speaks 20 dif- ferent languages and who understands cultures and traditions from around the world. The hotel is the youngest luxury property in Beverly Hills, and Orlich acknowledges that when Montage entered the scene, the market was already well established with an international clientele. "We recognize that a customer needs to be earned," he says. "They may be impressed by large rooms and current technology and a beautiful interi- or, but we wanted to have our own style of service. We want to create a relationship of extreme trust."
