Maroon 5 Singer's Ferrari and More Rare Autos at Auction T he great, gleaming cars that prowl and roar into the Monterey Peninsula during August 10-16 are some of the finest created in the world, and the average spectator has little chance of owning one. But a rare automobile auction company is ready to help you dream and for the right price, drive something home. Russo and Steele, found under a giant tent near Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey, is bringing several Ferraris to auction this year. One car in par- ticular might cause hearts to pound for both car aficionados and fans of Maroon 5. M5 lead singer (and judge of "The Voice") Adam Levine has something of a passion for vintage sports cars. Russo and Steele will be selling a 1963 Ferrari GT Lusso ("luxury" in Italian) that once belonged to Levine. The current seller of the car claims, "It's hard to really ever classify yourself as an owner of an automobile as important as... Enzo-era Ferraris. You become one of the lucky few that is entrusted with the honor, responsi- bility and title of caretaker." The limited edition Ferrari coupe is black with deep red leather interi- or, powered by a V-12 Colombo engine and designed by Pininfarina. The body and engine have been restored and the car won a first in class at last year's Concorso Italiano. Only 350 Lussos were made in 1963 and 1964, originally priced for $13,375 and built for speed and comfort. A Russo and Steele representative would not name an estimated final price for this beautiful machine but expected it to sell for "a seven-figure mark," especially as sports cars have been selling for very high prices recently. The auction house will also have a 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2, 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Coupe, 1973 Ferrari 246 GTS, 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, 1966 Jaguar E-type Roadster, and a 1966 Shelby GT350H, among 250 other fascinating cars.
