Dean of the Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration Valdosta State University invites application and nominations for the position of Dean of the Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration. The College seeks an articulate, energetic leader who will build on the College's strong foundation and effectively address future opportunities and challenges. This is a twelve-month, tenure track administrative faculty appointment beginning July 1, 2010. The College's 39 faculty members offer a B.B.A. program with nearly 1500 students pursuing one of five majors (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Market- ing), a part-time evening M.B.A. program, and a WebMBA program offered in conjunction with four other state uni- versities. The College also offers certificate programs in Human Resource, Health Care Administration, and Internal Auditing. The B.B.A. and M.B.A. programs are accredited by AACSB International (see http://www.valdosta.edu/ coba/). Responsibilities: The Dean is the chief academic officer of the College and reports directly to the Provost/Vice Presi- dent for Academic Affairs. The Dean is responsible for advancing the University's goals within the College. Duties include overseeing and improving College academic programs; administering faculty recruitment, development, promotion, tenure, and evaluation procedures; managing the College budget and facilities; strategic planning for the College; and communicating effectively with internal and external constituencies. In addition, the Dean must provide leadership in the AACSB International maintenance of the accreditation process. Qualifications: Candidates for the position should have an earned doctorate in one of the business program areas from an AACSB International accredited institution; a record of demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholar- ship warranting appointment to the rank of Professor in a department of the College; at least three years of success- ful leadership experience and budget responsibility at the level of department chair or above; successful experience with AACSB International accreditation process; capacity to work effectively with senior administrative colleagues, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the business community; commitment to participatory decision-making within a shared governance structure; evidence of achievements in fostering academic excellence and research opportuni- ties; and must be able to demonstrate leadership and communication skills, vision, enthusiasm, and the ability to accomplish University and College-level goals. Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Valdosta State University is located in Valdosta, a city of 50,000 in south-central Georgia. As a regional university, VSU's primary service region is a 41-county area ranging from the Alabama border to the Atlantic Ocean. However, VSU's 12,300 students come from 48 states and 50 countries.
