September / October 2015 38 his prime subject. You have probably seen those garage palaces, with floors so clean you would cry if a drop of oil dribbled on it. The garage walls are often covered with framed posters telling of races held long ago in exotic places like Monaco, France or the Bahamas. For Nance, he has simply added a lift that allows him to comfortably store four cars and his trusty pickup. Yes, a few framed posters do adorn the walls. Occasionally when Jim's inventory grows beyond his garage capacity, friends and neighbors have been known to share their unused spaces. What could be better than going in to your garage and gazing upon a beautiful sport car, yours or not. This spring Jim posed his 2001 996 turbo and a 1970 914/ 6 beside some of the iconic buildings and beau- tiful landscaping of nearby Unity Village. The 996 has that classic Porsche stance, accentuated by wide fender flares and a low, ready to pounce profile. The 914/6, once looked upon as the step child of Porsche due to its history with Volkswagen, has also gained buyer and seller at- tention. Although the profile of each car is distinctively different, Porsches' DNA is evident in both. As people paused to observe our photo shoot, questions and com- ments were directed equally to both Porsche models. On our day of shooting, Jim was to have a 1987 930 turbo cabriolet, but to his dis- appointment it remained at Karl Wilens' shop in Grand- view, waiting for a part to cure an ill. A few weeks later the part arrived, Karl did his magic, and the 930 was back in Nance's' hands. Photos by Jim Rand
