September / October 2015 11 KCRPCA UPDATE Kansas City Region Kansas City Region KCRPCA KCRPCA ZONE 10 P ORSCH E CLUB OF AMER I CA Lighting Strikes in KCRPCA NATIONAL WINNER Tim Bubniak our KCRPCA president called me. He sounded excited and nervous. "You are not going to believe what happened!", were the first words out of his mouth. My mind was blank. The wife, the kid, the job, a sense of wonderment shot through my mind. I decided to play it cool. "What happened?", I finally managed to get out. "Brian won the national PCA Cayman raffle!" Wait, what? Tim went on to say he had just gotten off the phone with Brian Britton. Apparently Brian upon hearing he had won, said "wait a minute let me go sit down." Come to think of it, I would have said the same thing. Brian was gracious enough to come to breakfast the following Saturday to tell us all about it, and to let the breakfast crowd wish him congratulations. We had balloons and a banner ready. We were about to go in when the man of the hour, no, the man of the year showed up! We all cheered! Brian was very gracious as we quizzed him on the number of tickets he bought, color he will pick out, interior, wheels, on and on. We were like little kids talking to the one lucky kid that got the Christmas gift we all wanted from Santa. Breakfast was quick and the questions continued. Again Brian was gracious. At one point he said he was still expecting someone to pinch him, making sure this was all real. It is real Brian. People really do win. And it could not have happened to a nicer guy. We, the KCRPCA, are very happy for you. Congratulation again! And in case anyone is wondering, I have called "Dibs" for the first ride. - STAN We WON!
