September / October 2015 21 missed but they are important for that overall new look. If you have kept your tailpipes clean without a lot of black buildup all you have to do is wax the tips with cleaner wax to get them back to showroom condition. If your tips are covered in black stains you will have a little more work. To get an old tailpipe tip to look new you need to first cover the tip with a heavy coat of paste wax then use a SOS pad and work the area until it becomes shiny. Do this over the whole tip keeping wax on the surface to prevent scratching the finish. This will take some time but the end result will give you a new looking set of tailpipe tips. (see picture 3 ) Now I'm going to show you how to disassemble different parts of your car to help get your Porsche back to showroom condition. (I'm using my Boxster as an example, so not all of these may work on your Porsche). Let us get started: Side vents. I covered cleaning the side vents in part one, but this is a part that can be removed and cleaned. There are two reasons to remove the vents: one is that it will be much easier to clean the black vents once the housing is removed and second there is a lot of black rubber behind the vents that shows from the outside that can be cleaned. (see pictures 4 & 5) To remove the vents there is one screw at the top to remove, then you will have a snap keeper at the top and bottom of the vent. These keepers will require some pressure to release them. Be careful not to scratch your car when pulling these out. Note: Skill level to remove these vents based on a level of 1 to 5 would be a 4, so you may want to pass on taking these vents out if you're not comfortable with it. Front side marker lights. You can easily remove the side marker lights to clean both the marker and the painted surface behind them. ( see picture 6) They can be removed by inserting a screwdriver into the opening in the wheelhouse liner at right angles to the side of the light housing. By pressing with the screwdriver, disengage the securing spring of the side marker housing. Remove side marker and undo bulb holder so housing can be removed from wiring. Now that you have housing removed, wax the area behind the light housing and remove any caked on wax. Before you put the marker back in be sure to clean and polish it. To put the marker back in first replace the bulb holder then push the front of the housing in until it catches, then push the back down until the spring snaps into place.
