September / October 2015 43 27.4-acre complex serves as both Porsche North Amer- ica headquarters, as well as a state of the art facility geared towards "an all things Porsche" immersion experi- ence. The facility features several "track modules" in- cluding a one-mile handling circuit, low friction course and low friction circle pads (can you spell D.R.I.F.T?) a controlled wet surface skid plate and asphalt driving dy- namics (slalom) course. As a recent brand con- vert and new-found Porsche nerd, I could not think of a better way to spend a Friday. The website is full of ex- cellent information and you simply book the type of ex- perience you are looking for, locate a date on the calendar and book it. Courses range from $300 to $750 and fea- ture essentially all of the Porsche line of vehicles, in- cluding off road courses for Cayenne and Macan drivers. Most courses are 1.5 hours. (Mine was closer to 2 hours as I kept doing 360's on the wet skid plate course.) More about that later. See more at https://www.porschedriving. com/centers/Atlanta There are additional fa- cilities such as a The Human performance center, where you can do a few calisthen- ics or push-ups before jump- ing in with your instructor, or grab a quick cappuccino in the Carrera Café where your favorite coffee and beverages are free for stu- dents. There is a driving simulator studio where you can practice your skills with friends as well as a Porsche exclusive studio where you can personally design the Porsche of your dreams, fea- turing on display, what I be- lieve to be the worlds most expensive Panamera Turbo S. It was stunning. There is even a Porsche Classic restoration center where you can bring in your collectible for some much needed maintenance and touch up. There are several legendary racecars scattered throughout the building (in- cluding a Gulf liveried 917) and the history museum of- fers some beautiful and sig- nificant Porsche's cars on display. The architecture is truly amazing and the expan- sive interior space is framed in glass and stainless with European designed seat- ing areas where you can sit and contemplate your next PlaySLIDESHOW
