DEAN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION The University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Business Administration. The University and its Community. Founded in 1890, UNT is classified by Carnegie as Research University/High Research Activity. UNT is the flagship of the University of North Texas System, which includes the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth and the University of North Texas Dallas Campus. UNT is the largest and most comprehensive institution in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, offering 93 bachelors, 111 masters and 50 doctoral de- grees. The university's diverse student body, which includes over 2000 international students, now includes over 34,000 students, placing UNT among the top 40 nationally in total enrollment. UNT's new President and Provost are leading the University through a period of rapid change to meet the challenges of an ambitious academic plan and expanded mis- sion that responds to the opportunities of a dynamic, growing region. UNT is located in Denton, a vibrant community at the northern apex of the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area, which comprises a population of over six million people. This area is home to 22 Fortune 500 companies, giving it one of the highest concentrations of corporate headquarters in the U.S. The cities of the region are known for their world- renowned cultural institutions such as the Kimball Art Museum, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Meyerson Symphony Hall and the Bass Performance Hall. The College of Business Administration. The College of Business Administration (COBA) is an integral part of not only UNT, but also the North Texas business community. Currently consisting of five academic departments and seven specialized centers, COBA enrolls more than 5800 undergraduate and graduate students. The College of Business Ad- ministration's 141 faculty and staff offer students 29 majors leading to B.B.A., B.S., M.B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean has an impressive opportunity to further engage the region's business community and many corporations. The Dean is responsible for the College's academic, fiscal and personnel matters and provides leadership for the College to foster excellence in teaching, research, and service to the Texas, national, and inter- national communities. The Dean represents the College to external constituencies and actively participates in fund-raising initiatives including leading funding efforts for the planned new College building, starting construction in mid-2008. The Dean is the major advocate for the College within the University and beyond. Qualifications. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must possess an earned doctorate and a record that warrants appointment as a tenured full professor in an academic department in the College. Applicants must also possess a record of successful leadership and administrative experience in a doctoral-research university at or above the level of department chair (or equivalent); have demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and fostering diversity in the faculty, staff, and students; possess significant administrative experience; and be able to demonstrate their ability to communicate ef- fectively in a university setting and with external constituencies.
