LUKE WALTON DISCUSSES COACHING DURING NBA LOCKOUT
How many college hoops programs can say they had a current NBA player on their coaching staff in 2011-12? Only one, and it is Memphis. With the NBA locked out in late summer of 2011, Josh Pastner hired current NBA Los Angeles Laker Luke Walton to join his staff.
Walton came to the Bluff City in late August and stayed until the NBA lockout came to an end in early December. He returned to the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 7, 2011.
In his short time with the Tigers, Walton quickly gained the players' respect, passing along his knowledge of the game to them.
