November / December 2015 52 The Boxster ran strong all day with no issues, other than figuring out some things we will have to modify to make it a strong endurance car (such as the ability to refuel the fuel tank faster). Typically our drivers will go about 2 hours in the car at a time, which is a feat in itself. It is fun watching drivers come from other series that run little baby 20-30 minute sprint races and watch them try to adjust to a 2 hour stint in the car. The 944 can run 3 hours on fuel, but most drivers can not run quite that long. The Boxster was really stretching to make 2 hours on fuel, so we'll figure that out this winter as the vent system does not like fuel- ing fast, and will not fill fully in those condi- tions. The longer you can go between stops, the better your finish will be. Saturday we finished strong in the Box- ster with a 3rd place podium finish in GP1. On Sunday we put car 59 into the mix to re- place the broken car 54. A 2200lb 944 with an S2 motor gave us another runner in the GP1 class. Unfortunately early in the race Kai lost a CV axle and Wes and I had to re- pair that. Getting the broken bolts out cost us a little time, but we had it back on track in under a half hour. About mid-day on Sunday after running 2 drivers, Wes put 59 on the trailer as that crew had run out of drivers and by then were pretty tired. Now I'm not pointing any fin- gers at Kris Loveless for leaving on Satur- day after car 54 broke, but I'm pointing a finger at Kris Loveless for leaving Saturday and hanging the crew out to dry. Apparently we now have a seat open for the 2016 race season, contact myself or Al Hess for de- tails……… Sunday the Boxster kept making circles and kept taking the abuse we dished at it, and after 7 hours of racing, we finished 2nd place in GP1. Attrition took out most of the field by Sunday afternoon either due to me- chanical failures, or the occasional accident. All in all it was clean racing, but only 11 cars took the checker on Sunday. It isn't easy to get a car to go 16 hours without issue. In the end, we had a great race season with many podium finishes. Win or lose though, most importantly, we are about having a great time at the track, and we make sure everyone does. I think I'll take a month off from wrenching on race cars, then start prepping for the 2016 season. - KARL Friday night, waiting for Saturday to start. Boxster starting on the pole on Saturday
